Mr. George Farris has over thirty years of experience beginning his career with the Federal Government at the Department of Defense prior to moving over to the Department of the Interior as the Chief of Environmental Services. He retired from government work in 1995 and began his private sector career as Environmental Compliance Officer for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and in 1996, and currently presides as President of 488 Environmental a company that he founded in 1996. Mr. Farris has had nationwide responsibility for the Bureau of Indian Affairs' environmental and cultural resources programs. This covered 550 tribal governments, 54,000,000 acres of land and approximately 8,000 facilities. He testified before Congress on budget and environmental issues. Mr. Farris prepared Bureau handbooks and guidance documents for compliance with the NEPA and the National Historic Preservation Act. Mr. Farris’ has extensive knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documents for all types of projects. He has special expertise for projects located on Indian lands held in trust by the United States and for dealing with tribal councils, representatives and individuals. |
